General Purpose
To provide technical, strategic and policy advice on ICT matters and the implementation of various ICT solutions and interventions on work processes and other related matters at the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources.
Main Duties
The main duties of the Information and Communications Unit are highlighted below:
- Oversee research on potential technology solutions and implementations in support of opportunities and new initiatives;
- Benchmark, analyze, report and recommend improvement of the ICT infrastructure and systems in the Ministry;
- Manage and oversee the required interfaces between research and ICT development and implementation;
- Ensure the delivery and operation of integrated systems and interconnection of Government network information systems;
- Provide technical advice to the Ministry on ICT issues and projects;
- Advice on acquisition of IT resources based on assessment studies;
- Maintain inventory of all ICT resources within the Ministry;
- Manage all matters relating to quality assurance, including testing of applications and related IT equipment;
- Manage matters related to system security, including backups, password enforcement, antivirus administration and related physical security issues;
- Ensure that the National ICT Policy and Ministry’s IT Policy are implemented in accordance with professional guidelines and standards set by MOIC;
- Serve as MDA focal point in matters relating to ICT activities;
- Responsible for all other ICT related technical duties as well as other management functions.
- Perform other duties within the scope and intent of the job, as may be assigned from time to time.
